From the minute I was born, I was meant to live an active, always on the go lifestyle. At the age of 6, my dad nicknamed me ‘Roadrunner’ because I was always running around doing something active! I’ve been dancing for 17 years now, and played softball for 7. To stay in shape, I would always go on long runs. Running seemed to come naturally to me, even at a very young age!
In high school I spent the majority of my time at the dance studio or running around the neighborhood. However, when senior year rolled around, I wanted to do more. I wanted to push myself even further than I already was, so I got a membership at our local gym!
For most of my senior year, I would spend every Tuesday and Thursday before school, in a Pilates class. While in that class, I realized being active, and staying healthy and fit was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. That was the moment I went all in.
Fast forward to freshman year in college, I was using the weight room daily, going on runs around the beautiful lakes on my campus, and hiking the bluffs. Knowing how active and fit I was, I registered for several 5k and 10k races that year. Running was still a huge part of my life, and races are what made me happy.
The following summer was when I was introduced to #workitout100. I was so beyond excited to join in on this movement! It felt great being cheered on by the #wio100 community, friends and family. Once people saw how passionate I was about this, they became inspired to join along too!
I was well into the #wio100 program, when I was diagnosed with chronic compartment syndrome (in short- my feet & legs went numb every time I would go on a run). This really turned my world around, since running has always been a part of who I was. However, I wasn’t going to let this one thing stop me from what I loved most- working out. So, I used it to fuel me even more!
I began lifting every day in the gym, doing yoga, meditating, and going on bike rides. And now today, I couldn’t be happier with where I am in my life!
Since joining #wio100, my body, and mind have made such AMAZING progress. Some progress can be seen in pictures, while others I feel internally. I sleep so much better at night, I feel overall happier with my life, and I always look forward to my workouts every morning when I wake up.
So thank you to everyone who has supported me since day 1, whether you’re a family member, friend of mine, or Instagram follower…I love you ALL!
Here’s to making gains, staying happy, & being healthy for the rest of my life…all while inspiring others to do the same!
